According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s office, Sheriff Jeffrey Mann, was arrested over the weekend for indecency and obstruction after he was caught exposing himself in public.
Sheriff Mann was arrested by Atlanta police on charges of indecency and obstruction of an officer, and was booked into the city jail, but he has bonded out.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Mann was arrested near Piedmont Park around 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
The police report states Mann fled from an officer that discovered him exposing himself in an area of Piedmont Park. According to the police report, Mann stopped to tie his shoes during the chase, then continued running once the arresting officer got closer. The report also says Mann eventually stopped running and obeyed the arresting officer’s commands.
Mann, the 49th sheriff of DeKalb County, former member of the U.S. Air Force, and former assistant county attorney in DeKalb County, has been with the office for ten years, according to their website.
Neighbors who declined to go on camera told Fox 5 they were shocked by the allegations and the news of Mann’s arrest, but said they would not yet be judgmental and wait to see how the case plays out before condemning what he allegedly did.
