A plutonium finishing plant has collapsed, leaving hundreds of employees in danger of contamination. Those employees are now huddled in “take cover” positions, and have been ordered not to eat or drink anything.

The plant is located in Hanford, Washington and it is used to store dangerously contaminated items like “hot radioactive trains that transport fuel rods.”

An employee stranded at the site says the precautions are procedure and there’s really nothing to worry about.

Other employees are reaching out via social media including Kit Carter who tweeted the following:

According to King 5 News in Seattle:

“A source said that crews doing road work nearby may have created enough vibration to cause the collapse.”
