TV host Dr. Oz went on Fox & Friends to talk about an upcoming interview with Ivanka Trump, but before the show ended, he was able to throw in some great comments in support of medical marijuana.

Fox News invited Oz on Tuesday to speak about how Ivanka Trump revealed on his show that she suffered from postpartum depression, reported Raw Story.

As the Trump directed interview ended, Fox host Ainsley Earhardt asked the doctor if the anger over Donald Trump’s presidency was bad for the country.

Dr. Oz responded by agreeing with Earhardt about the dangers of stress, but then he went unscripted into the topic of the opioid epidemic.

“Can I just say something,” Oz asked as co-host Brian Kilmeade tried to go to a commercial.

“The real story is the hypocrisy around medical marijuana,” Oz said, surprising the Fox & Friends hosts. “People say marijuana is a gateway drug to narcotics; it may be the exit drug to get us out of the narcotic epidemic.”

“Wow!” exclaimed co-host Steve Doocy, who is known for being anti-marijuana.

“We’re not allowed to study it because it’s a Schedule I drug,” Oz added. “And I personally believe it could help.”

Dr. Oz personally seems to believe the things that are actually happening in states where medical marijuana actually does reduce opioid deaths.

“I hadn’t heard that before,” Doocy, who obviously has done no actual research into the topic, said as he quickly ended the segment before the Dr. could continue.
